Solid Rock believes that
there has to be an understanding that goes beyond
the surface of human intellect, and into the heart
and spirit when it applies to giving. Giving is a
matter of the heart, and is done out of love for God
and our obedience to His will. |

1And
now, brothers, we
want you to know
about the grace that
God has given the
Macedonian churches.
2Out of
the most severe
trial, their
overflowing joy and
their extreme
poverty welled up in
rich generosity.
3For I
testify that they
gave as much as they
were able, and even
beyond their
ability. Entirely on
their own, 4they
urgently pleaded
with us for the
privilege of sharing
in this service to
the saints. 5And
they did not do as
we expected, but
they gave themselves
first to the Lord
and then to us in
keeping with God's
will. 6So
we urged Titus,
since he had earlier
made a beginning, to
bring also to
completion this act
of grace on your
part. 7But
just as you excel in
everything—in faith,
in speech, in
knowledge, in
complete earnestness
and in your love for
us—see that you also
excel in this grace
of giving. |

How many of
us today have had the kind of enthusiastic spirit of giving that was expressed
by the people of the New Testament church? Are we so caught up with excitement
of having the resources and the opportunity to give, that we plead with the
church for the privilege to give more?” If answered honestly, most of us would
have to say no. We believe that we should be publicly thanked and have our
names engraved on a plaque in the sanctuary for just paying our tithes—most of
the time. We fail to acknowledge that it is only by God’s grace that we have
anything to give, and have the mind (the willingness) to give. It’s not about
how much or how little we have. It’s how much grace we’ve received from God
that governs and guides our giving. When we have the privilege of impacting the
lives of others by what we give, we must know that it is by God’s grace, and His
grace alone, that it was possible.
Solid Rock Christian
Ministries fully understands that there are
some who lack confidence in the integrity of those to whom they are asked to
give. Their focus is on how the money they gave is being used, instead of on
their obedience to God in giving. We should not overly concern ourselves with
what is being done with what we give. In addition, we need to remember that ministry cost. It cost to
maintain a church building, provide bereavement assistance, feed the homeless,
distribute programs, bulletins, and announcements, etc. A sign of how the
church is using the money we give, is when we enter the comfortable climate and
decorum of the church building; read the bibles available in the pews without a
candle; listen to encouraging and uplifting words from the man/woman of God
weekly; sit in clean orderly seats with our family and friends without soiling
our clothing; and participate in church sponsored activities that are
educational, inspirational, and beneficial. These are but a few ways that our
money is used for the up building of God’s kingdom.
